In Singapore, we currently have about 450,000 people in the Pioneer Generation. You are considered a<a href=\"https:\/\/www.moh.gov.sg\/cost-financing\/healthcare-schemes-subsidies\/pioneer-generation-package\"> &#8220;Pioneer&#8221; is defined <\/a>as if you are a Singaporean born on or before 31 December 1949 and obtained citizenship before 31 December 1986. Of those, 27,000 Pioneers are living with moderate disabilities.<\/p><p>The scheme gives cash payouts of $100\/month to assist with Pioneers who have moderate or severe functional disabilities. But, just be aware that if you&#8217;ve already applied for other severe disability schemes e.g.\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.aic.sg\/financial-assistance\/medisave-care\">MediSave Care<\/a>,\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.aic.sg\/financial-assistance\/interim-disability-assistance-programme-elderly\">IDAPE<\/a>\/<a href=\"https:\/\/www.aic.sg\/financial-assistance\/elderfund\">ElderFund<\/a>,\u00a0or <a href=\"https:\/\/www.aic.sg\/financial-assistance\/careshield-life\">CareShield Life<\/a>, you do not need to obtain the FAR. Instead, you need to contact an\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.aic.sg\/financial-assistance\/Documents\/Application%20Forms\/IDAPE%20Assessor%20List.pdf\">MOH-accredited severe disability assessor<\/a>\u00a0to undergo a disability assessment.<\/p><p>Also, Pioneers who are already receiving payouts from\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.aic.sg\/financial-assistance\/interim-disability-assistance-programme-elderly\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">IDAPE<\/a>\/<a href=\"https:\/\/www.aic.sg\/financial-assistance\/elderfund\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">ElderFund<\/a>,\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.aic.sg\/financial-assistance\/eldershield\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">ElderShield<\/a>,\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.aic.sg\/financial-assistance\/home-caregiving-grant\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Home Caregiving Grant<\/a>\u00a0or\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.aic.sg\/financial-assistance\/medisave-care\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">MediSave <span style=\"color: #0000ff;\">Care<\/span><\/a>\u00a0are automatically included in PioneerDAS if you meet the criteria. AIC will contact you separately if you are one of those Pioneers.<\/p><p>For people who are permanently bedridden, they also do not need to fill out the Functional Assessment Report. Only a doctor&#8217;s note is required in this case.<\/p><h2>How to Apply For PGDAS<\/h2><p><strong>Step 1: Your loved one undergoes a disability assessment (Functional Assessment)<\/strong><b><br \/><\/b>Visit a General Practitioner (GP) or your care provider to complete the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.aic.sg\/financial-assistance\/Documents\/Application%20Forms\/Functional%20Assessment%20Report.pdf\">Functional Assessment Report (FAR)<\/a>. They will provide the form for you, you do not need to print it out.<\/p><p>Walk-ins are accepted, but you can make an appointment to ensure a slot.<\/p><p><strong>Step 2: Apply for PGDAS (online OR hard copy)<\/strong><b><br \/><\/b>AIC strongly encourages people to apply the online route as it&#8217;s a shorter waiting time for the approval.<\/p><p>Online &#8211; Visit <a href=\"https:\/\/efinance.aic.sg\/\">AIC&#8217;s eService portal (eFASS)<\/a> to complete the application form and submit together with the FAR.<br \/>Hardcopy &#8211; Email apply@aic.sg or walk in to any <a href=\"https:\/\/www.aic.sg\/about-us\/aic-link\">AIC link locations<\/a> to obtain the application form<\/p><p>Members in nursing homes can use the PGDAS payments to subsidise their nursing home bills. Contact the nursing home for assistance with the application.
